What is Wound Care?
When it comes to wound care healing, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. The type of wound, the location, and the severity all play a role in determining the best course of treatment. In some cases, over-the-counter products may be sufficient. However, for more serious wounds like ulcers, burns, bed sores, or surgical wounds, it may be necessary to seek out the services of a compounding pharmacy. Compounding pharmacies are able to create custom wound care medications that can be tailored to the individual needs of each patient. This allows for more effective wound healing and can help to prevent complications such as infection. Whether you are dealing with a minor wound or a more serious ulcer or burn, the experienced team at a compounding pharmacy like SandsRx can help you find the right solution for your wound care needs. We have three compounding pharmacies in Wylie, Frisco, and McKinney, TX, but we serve wound care patients throughout Texas and can ship medications to most cities in the U.S.
Why Do I Need A Compounding Pharmacy?
Wound care treatment can be critical to the quality of life for a patient. In many instances, the ability to cure a wound quickly prevents the unnecessary amputation of a limb or part of a limb. Patients have a variety of options to choose from, however, not all wound care products are created equal. In some cases, patients may need a specialized product that is not readily available at their local pharmacy. That’s where compounding pharmacies come in. Compounding pharmacies are able to create custom formulations of wound care products, tailored to the specific needs of each patient. As a result, compounding pharmacies can play a vital role in the healing process. For example, patients with chronic wounds, ulcers, bed sores, surgical wounds, etc may benefit from a compound that includes ingredients to help promote healing. Similarly, patients who have suffered burns may need a compound that includes pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory agents. Whether you are looking for a wound care product for yourself or a loved one, be sure to ask your physician about compounding services. With the help of a compounding pharmacy like SandsRx, you can get the customized wound care treatment you need to heal and move on with your life.

Spira-Wash Gel & Wound Care Cream
One of the most important ingredients behind our highly effective compound wound care cream is Spira-Wash Gel. Spira-Wash Gel is the base developed by PCCA that is used in most of our compounded wound care creams. It is a remarkably adherent base designed for a variety of different applications, including anti-infection treatments of the skin, dermatology, occlusive needs, wound care, and topical humectants. Spira-Wash is specifically designed to aid the body’s healing process by acting as a protective barrier against the air, blocking out potentially harmful microorganisms and environmental toxins.
Along with guarding against contaminants, Spira-Wash also creates a moist environment for the wound to heal in, which has been proven to speed healing by up to 50%. Spira-Wash is different than comparable products because it protects the wound, but does not prevent proper washing. Spira-Wash is water washable, making cleaning and debridement of the wound as easy as possible.
Meadowsweet Extract For Wound Care Compounding
Spira-Wash Gel contains organic Meadowsweet Extract that can potentially provide antioxidant and additional healing properties. Meadowsweet Extract may also act as an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Research also suggests that Meadowsweet Extract possesses antimicrobial properties.
